After Calls From GOP Rank And File, Senate Delays Recess To Address COVID-19 Fallout

Update: The Senate has canceled its planned recess.

Notwithstanding the scheduled state work period, the Senate will be in session next week. I am glad talks are ongoing between the Administration and Speaker Pelosi. I hope Congress can pass bipartisan legislation to continue combating the coronavirus and keep our economy strong.

The jetfumes that usually waft through the Capitol on Thursday afternoons — when Congress usually wraps up its work week in Washington — have been replaced this week with chaos: some rank-and-file Senate Republicans have made clear that they don’t want to leave without voting on a measure that would address the coronavirus.
