The overturn of President Donald Trump’s first veto is likely to fail in the House Tuesday, as too few Republicans defect on the national emergency to help Democrats overcome the vote threshold.
According to a Tuesday Politico report, the matter will likely now be tossed to the courts.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is reportedly trying to paint the vote as a choice of loyalty to Trump above constitutional duty, and may bring it back to the floor every six months to force Republicans to show their obsequiousness to the President.
Yet, as Politico points out, Trump will definitely count the failed vote as another victory in a week of highs for the President.
