Rep. Daniel Crenshaw (R-TX) on Wednesday night railed against the stream of corporations like Delta and Coca-Cola that are publicly condemning GOP lawmakers’ efforts to gut voting access, claiming that the criticism was a product of “progressive fascism” (which isn’t a thing).
“The Democrats have successfully captivated the institutions; pop culture, Hollywood, our education institutions and now our corporations into their own woke agenda,” the Republican told Fox News. “This is fascism. And they use cancel culture as a tool to impose their fascism on us.”
It goes without saying that not only is “progressive fascism” a plainly fictional concept, massive corporations exercising their right to free speech to criticize the government for making it harder for people to vote nowhere near the realm of fascism.
Additionally, Republican lawmakers are the ones trying to punish and/or “cancel” those corporations for speaking out against the voting restrictions by working to revoke their special tax breaks and anti-trust law exemptions.
