President Donald Trump had oddly kind words for Washington, D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine Monday, giving a special shout out to the man who is currently suing him.

According to the Washington Post, Trump was thanking the National Association of Attorneys General for its help with the criminal reform legislation passed last year when he paused to single out Racine.

“And a special thanks to Attorney General Karl Racine,” Trump said, scanning the crowd. “Where’s Karl? Karl? Karl?”

“Hi, Karl,” he continued after pointing to him. “Great job. Thank you very much. You were very helpful. Everybody said, Karl, I feel like you’re — like I know you. That’s pretty good.”

‘I feel like I know you too as well, Mr. President,” Racine quipped from his seat, eliciting laughter from the crowd and from Trump.

Per the Post, Racine sued Trump last year for violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution and just last week subpoenaed his inaugural committee for information related to the Trump Organization and hotels.
