President Donald Trump swiped at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) early Wednesday morning after the senator finally accepted the indisputable fact that Joe Biden is the president-elect.
Trump retweeted a Daily Mail article headlined “Trump’s allies slam Mitch McConnell for congratulating Biden.”
“Mitch, 75,000,000 VOTES, a record for a sitting President (by a lot),” Trump wrote in his retweet. “Too soon to give up. Republican Party must finally learn to fight. People are angry!”
(The President has about 74.2 million votes, not 75 million.)
After the Electoral College cemented Biden’s victory, McConnell finally admitted during a floor speech on Tuesday that the Democrat had won after weeks of holding out as Trump attempted to steal the election.
“The Electoral College has spoken,” said the GOP leader. “So today I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden.”
Despite the results of both the election and the Electoral College, Trump has continued to peddle lies about the race and demand that his fellow Republicans help him overturn the election somehow. Additionally, the President has utterly failed to prove that mass voter fraud “stole” the election from him.
