It appears that President Trump’s latest desperate appeal to “suburban women” during a campaign in Lansing, Michigan on Tuesday has once again prompted more mockery as he continues lagging behind Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in the polls among suburban voters.
Trump took a whack again at appealing to suburban women during a campaign rally in Lansing, Michigan on Tuesday by throwing in some misogynistic messaging this time around.
“Your husbands, they want to get back to work,” Trump said on Tuesday. “We’re getting your husband’s back to work. And everybody wants it.”
Earlier this month, the President expressed puzzlement during a campaign rally in Duluth, Minnesota over the fact that his blatantly racist attempts to win over suburban women aren’t cutting it as he attempts to portray Biden as a threat to what he falsely assumed are poverty-free suburban neighborhoods.
“They talk about the suburbs, women in the suburbs. I ended a regulation that nobody would have done,” Trump said during his Duluth rally, referring to his repeal of the Obama-era Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule that required cities receiving federal housing funds to probe potential housing discrimination against protected groups.
Weeks later, Trump tried to rehash his glaringly racist appeal to suburban women during a rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
“I ask you to do me a favor. Suburban women: will you please like me? Please,” he begged. “Please. I saved your damn neighborhood, OK?”
Twitter users were quick to pan Trump’s ill-advised attempt to gain support from suburban women on Tuesday:
