Just days after ex-Labor Secretary Alex Acosta resigned, chatter is already circulating that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross is headed out the door next after the administration’s defeat on the citizenship census question.

According to NBC News, President Donald Trump has been calling around to gauge reactions to replacing Ross. Some White House aides are predicting that Ross will be out as early as this summer.

However, the Commerce Secretary may get a reprieve due to Acosta’s abrupt resignation under a cloud of scrutiny related to his role in sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s 2008 plea deal.

Ross has so far leaned on a long-running relationship with Trump when the President has become irritated over aspects of his job performance like failed trade negotiations.
