After Michael Cohen’s opening testimony revealed that President Trump’s former lawyer intends to testify about Roger Stone’s connection to WikiLeaks and Donald Trump Jr.’s actions surrounding the 2016 Trump Tower meeting, President Trump reacted to the news with his usual string of insults.
“He is lying in order to reduce his prison time,” he tweeted, calling Cohen a bad lawyer who did “bad things unrelated to Trump.”
Cohen is making waves on Capitol Hill this week as he testifies before Congress about Trump, with whom he worked closely for more than a decade. Cohen’s testimony before the House Oversight Committee Wednesday is his only public hearing and comes just a few months before he starts his three-year prison sentence for financial crimes and lying to Congress.
When asked for his reaction to Cohen’s opening testimony on Wednesday, Trump — who is currently in Vietnam for a denuclearization summit with North Korean regime leader Kim Jong-un — just shook his head, according to the White House press pool report.
Michael Cohen was one of many lawyers who represented me (unfortunately). He had other clients also. He was just disbarred by the State Supreme Court for lying & fraud. He did bad things unrelated to Trump. He is lying in order to reduce his prison time. Using Crooked’s lawyer!
