Just after Paul Manafort’s second sentencing in federal court, President Trump maintained that he hadn’t given “a thought” to pardoning his former campaign chairman.

“On a human basis, it’s a very sad day, I feel very badly for him,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

“I have not even given it a thought,” he added, when asked about a potential pardon. “As of this moment, it is not something that’s right now on my mind. I do feel badly for Paul Manafort, that I can tell you.”

Trump also said he didn’t “know anything” about the new state charges against Manafort, which were filed just as his additional 43-month jail sentence in Washington, D.C. was announced Wednesday.

“I’ll take a look at it,” he told reporters.
