President Donald Trump on Thursday continued to offer false statements about the seriousness of coronavirus, suggesting that “when you catch it, you get better, then you are immune.”

“I’m back because I am perfect physical specimen and I’m extremely young,” Trump joked to Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, floating that a sparkling health record was the reason for his quick recovery. “I’m lucky in that way.”

The President bragged that he had none of the comorbidities that have put many Americans at risk, including heart problems and diabetes that have caused serious complications in treatment for the disease — at times ending in death.

The President repeatedly gushed to Bartiromo that he was “in good health,” suggesting that his worst health problem was a few extra pounds. Trump insisted that he hadn’t really needed drugs, even after his doctors disclosed over the weekend that the President had been administered steroids, supplemental oxygen and an experimental antibody treatment.

“I could have been out of the hospital in one day,” Trump said.

The comments come after President Trump shared a video on Wednesday, saying that getting COVID-19 was possibly a “blessing from God,” even as more than 210,000 people who contracted the virus in the United States have subsequently died from it.

Although he has been widely criticized for flouting the guidance of scientists to mitigate the spread of coronavirus, Trump appeared to throw his hands up on Thursday — further shirking all responsibility for mocking masks and refusing to wear one himself by suggesting that even lawmakers he’s seen who “wore a mask all the time” have been infected with coronavirus.

“Remember this, when you catch it, you get better, then you are immune,” Trump said.
