President Donald Trump said Friday he “doesn’t really” think that there is a rising threat of white nationalism, despite reports linking the New Zealand mosque attack suspect with white supremacist views.
“I think it is a small group of people that have very, very serious problems,” Trump told reporters as he vetoed the congressional resolution rejecting his national emergency. “If you look at what happened in New Zealand, perhaps that is the case. I don’t know enough about it yet. They are just learning about the person and people involved.”
Trump added that the attack is “a terrible thing.”
