Former Obama administration officials say they're launching a private campaign to encourage people to sign up for coverage next year under the Affordable Care Act. With the start of open enrollment just weeks away on Nov. 1, the Trump administration has slashed "Obamacare's" ad budget, as well as grants to outside organizations that are supposed to help consumers sign up. Indicating a shift in position, the Trump administration announced Monday that it backs a judge’s ruling to toss the entire Affordable Care Act, a step forward in intensity from its old position that only certain portions of the law should be thrown out.

The ruling, from the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, is likely to be appealed to the Supreme Court anyway, according to a Monday Politico report.

More than 20 million Americans are covered by the ACA, and some of the Trump administration’s drug pricing reforms are dependent on the law.

House Democrats are reportedly livid and are calling the move “unconscionable.”
