White House Cabinet Secretary Bill McGinley issued an order Tuesday that all Trump administration officials must join their boss in boycotting this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, according to CNN.
The boycott is just part of the new normal in the time of Trump: the President will hold a dueling, likely media-bashing rally during the dinner. Trump’s penchant for skipping the festivities sets him apart from his predecessors: Ronald Reagan was the last President to miss the dinner, and he was recuperating from being shot at the time.
This year’s dinner will feature author Ron Chernow instead of the usual comedian.
