Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) warned of a “reckoning” for China after the U.S. emerges from the coronavirus pandemic, during an interview on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday morning.

When asked by co-host Steve Doocy about an op-ed he wrote with Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) for Fox News, which argues that China stole U.S. capacity to produce pharmaceuticals and medical devices, Cotton reiterated the need to bring manufacturing capacity back to the country in the midst of what he and Gallagher called the “China virus pandemic.”

“It’s time to bring that manufacturing capacity back to the United States,” Cotton said, referring to how China produces antibiotics, ibuprofen and Advil.

Cotton then said that “it’s time to bring a lot more back” to the U.S. from China before adding that a “reckoning” is imminent.

“China unleashed this plague on the world and there will be a reckoning when we’re on the back side of it,” Cotton said, without elaborating.

Cotton’s latest remarks come after President Trump defended labeling the outbreak the “Chinese virus” last week. Less than a week later, Trump attempted to defend the Asian-American community for the xenophobia it has faced in the wake of COVID-19 coverage.
