Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) wasn’t impressed by Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) pointedly eating Kentucky Fried Chicken during a House Judiciary Committee hearing scheduled with Attorney General Bill Barr on Thursday.
Tillis took to the Senate floor on Thursday afternoon to rail against the “theater” of congressional Democrats trying to question Barr on his handling of the Mueller report. Barr ditched the House hearing that day, prompting Cohen to bring in a bucket of KFC to the hearing and place a toy chicken in “Chicken Barr”‘s empty seat.
Pulling out a poster of Cohen chowing down, Tillis said indignantly, “You tell me whether or not the chair of that committee is actually serious about this subject when you’ve got a guy eating fried chicken in place of where they wanted General Barr to be.”
“This guy didn’t even have a good enough sense to have Bojangles chicken,” the senator complained.
As any North Carolinian will tell you, Bojangles is the No. 1 fried chicken joint in the country.
