Tennessee House Speaker Glen Casada (R) will face a “no confidence” vote and possible censure Monday afternoon during a meeting of his Republican colleagues.
According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the GOP caucus may opt for the censure rather than tossing him out altogether, more of a political slap on the wrist.
Casada is facing the music after a dramatic few weeks that took down his trusted chief of staff, Cade Cothren. Texts between the two were leaked to local media outlets, which contained racist and sexist comments. Separate texts between Cothren and others revealed the political operative’s drug use on government property.
