President Donald Trump is clinging tight to his desire to have tanks populate this year’s Fourth of July festivities on the National Mall — despite the fact that it is logistically difficult, if not impossible.
According to the New York Times, the busyness of the Mall on the holiday will be an issue, with extra personnel needed to guide the tanks as tourists swarm around the monuments.
Then, there’s the massiveness of the tanks themselves. Weighing over 60 tons, the vehicles may be more than the streets — and Arlington Memorial Bridge — can handle.
It’s also unclear from where the tanks would come, and how they’d be transported.
Despite these hangups, the President has continued to promise the tanks’ inclusion.
