Former GOP strategist Roger Stone thanked Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson, along with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), on Monday night for helping him get his prison sentence commuted by President Donald Trump.
“You have been a tremendous friend. You have done a great job of keeping people informed,” Stone told Hannity during his first TV interview since his commutation. “But I have to really single out your Fox News colleague Tucker Carlson. He took up the cudgels early.”
Stone described Carlson as “a man of incredible loyalty” who “may be the best friend a man can have.”
“So my hats off to him and also congressman Matt Gaetz from Florida, who I hope to live long enough to see in the White House,” he continued.
Stone also thanked other staunch Trump allies, including Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk, Evangelic leader Franklin Graham, and former Trump adviser Mike Flynn, another one of Trump’s criminal associates whom the President has worked to shield from prosecution.
“So you, particularly Tucker, Matt Gaetz and everybody I named, my heart goes out to you. I’m deeply, deeply grateful,” Stone said. “But more than anything else, I’m grateful for God.”
Trump commuted Stone’s prison sentence last Friday, days before the GOP operative was slated to begin serving this week after being found guilty of lying to Congress, obstruction and witness tampering on his communications with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange during the 2016 election.
