The State Department ordered all non-essential and non-government employees of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq to leave the country immediately, The Associated Press reported.

The order was announced on the embassy’s website, according to the AP, and comes just as officials warned last week that new threats from Iran were emerging. Officials in Washington, D.C. warned that the threats targeted “Americans and American interests,” in the AP’s words.
