Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who resigned after months of public lambasting by President Trump, told students at Amherst College in Massachusetts on Wednesday that he had the “greatest confidence” in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
“It was complete and (thorough), some may have said it was extensive,” Sessions said, while refusing to talk specifics of the report, which was released last week.
“I have the greatest confidence in the integrity of the system. The process that was initiated was carried forth vigorously and with integrity,” he continued. “I think it deserves respect and I think it is about time to accept the results and let’s get on with the business of America.”
Sessions’ praise of Mueller and the integrity of the probe comes in stark contrast with with President Trump’s nearly manic daily attacks on Mueller’s team of investigators and the FBI’s initial rationale for launching the investigation.
