House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Sunday that Democrats would be willing to subpoena the Trump administration and go to court in order to see special counsel Bob Mueller’s final report, should the Justice Department not release that report to Congress.
“We will, obviously, subpoena the report,” Schiff told ABC “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos in an interview.
“We will bring Bob Mueller in to testify before Congress,” he continued. “We will take it to court if necessary. And in the end, I think the Department [of Justice] understands, they’re going to have to make this public.”
“I think Barr will ultimately understand that as well,” Schiff said, referring to newly-confirmed Attorney General William Barr.
Schiff later repeated that he would “absolutely” take the Trump administration to court in order to obtain Mueller’s report.
Prosecutors on Mueller’s team have reportedly begun contacting old bosses and returning to old jobs in a sign that the probe may be coming to an end.
