Sen. Mark Rubio (R-FL) expanded on a detail revealed in the redacted Mueller report, telling the New York Times Friday that the Russians did successfully hack the elections system of a county in Florida.
“Everybody has been told what it is they need to do to protect themselves from the intrusion,” he said. “I don’t believe the specific victims of the intrusion have been notified. The concern was that in a number of counties across the country, there are a couple of people with the attitude of: ‘We’ve got this; we don’t need your help. We don’t think we need to do what you are telling us we need to do.’”
“My biggest concern is that on Election Day you go vote and have mass confusion because voter registration information has been deleted from the systems,” he added.
Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) are reportedly slated to receive a briefing in the next few weeks.
“They won’t tell us which county it was, are you kidding me?” DeSantis said Thursday, expressing his frustration. “Why would you have not said something immediately?”
A detail in the Mueller report revealed that the Russians did hack the Illinois Board of Elections successfully, but only concluded that they may have infiltrated a county in Florida.
