Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are decrying their Democratic colleagues’ questioning of Attorney General William Barr as giving him the “Kavanaugh treatment.”
Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh also appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee during his confirmation battle when he was credibly accused of sexual assault by multiple women.
Then as now, the Republican committee members warmly embraced their politically aligned witness and chafed against any hint of aggressive cross-examination from the Democrats.
Cruz mixed in the complaint with his glowing praise of the attorney general’s performance and career.
His fellow Texan Sen. John Cornyn (R) tweeted out similar sentiments:

It’s become a common refrain among Republicans, with even prospective Federal Reserve Board nominee Stephen Moore name-checking the judge in recent days.
