The House Intelligence Committee plans to call Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg to testify, The Daily Beast, NBC News and Axios reported Thursday. The Daily Beast and Axios cited an unnamed Democratic aide in their reports, NBC News cited an unnamed person with direct knowledge of the situation.
During public testimony before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, former Trump fixer Michael Cohen repeatedly cited Weisselberg as a key source information about the Trump Organization. Cohen testified in private before the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday.
Weisselberg was reportedly granted immunity last summer by federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York in exchange for information regarding the hush money payments Cohen made and coordinated, respectively, to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal in exchange for their silence regarding alleged affairs with Donald Trump.
But NBC News reported Wednesday, citing three unnamed people “with direct knowledge of the matter,” that Weisselberg had only “provided limited details in the course of his testimony.”
The outlet continued: “A person close to the Trump Organization tells NBC News that Weisselberg is still with the Trump Organization and defends Trump and the company.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) separately indicated his interest in hearing from Weisselberg, as well.
