In a seeming last-ditch effort to cling to her job, Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh’s (D) attorney said Thursday that a case of pneumonia — that coincided with the growing momentum of damning revelations about her self-dealing book scheme — has rendered her not “lucid” enough to make a call on resignation.
According to a Thursday Baltimore Sun report, attorney Steve Silverman said she may be well enough to decide next week. “She is generally aware that there is a consensus that she should resign,” he added.
There has been a growing chorus of voices from both sides of the aisle that Pugh should step down for good, even though some Democrats are couching their opinions with gentle urging for her to act in the “best interests of the city.”
