Vice President Mike Pence, always the loyal foot soldier, ignored the brewing insurrection within Republican ranks over the border wall national emergency declaration, making a full-throated call at CPAC for congressional support of the move.
“Today we call on every member of Congress to stand up for border security, stop playing politics with the security of the American people, and stand with President Trump for a stronger and safer America,” he said to raucous applause Friday.
The GOP-led Senate seems unlikely to acquiesce to Pence’s wishes, as more reports surface that a sufficient number of Republicans are willing to block President Donald Trump’s unilateral move in what would be a thoroughly embarrassing episode for the administration.
