One of Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) privileges as House speaker is to distribute highly prized office space however she wants. One of her first orders of business has been to strip Vice President Mike Pence of a mostly ceremonial office gifted to him by former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-MN).

According to a Tuesday NPR report, the first-floor office, prime real estate, was given as a sign of the synergy between Pence and Ryan and the other House Republicans. The vice president also has a standing office on the Senate side, which he uses when he visits Congress.

The office space is reportedly being redistributed to the White House legislative affairs team.
