House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said on Tuesday morning that she and President Donald Trump haven’t spoken with each other in nearly two months.

Pelosi told MSNBC “Morning Joe” that Trump’s State of the Union Address on February 4 was the last time they had talked directly.

Since then, the Democratic leader said, the two of them have only communicated through Trump’s intermediaries as Congress and the White House collaborate on disaster relief efforts amid the COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S.

“I don’t know what I would learn in a conversation with the President,” Pelosi said.

She pointed out that as a voracious consumer of cable TV, Trump was more likely to listen to her during interviews like the one she was having at that very moment anyway.

“We speak to each other right now, and that’s what he really hears: what people say publicly, much more than what you might say in a call,” Pelosi said.

Sure enough, Trump issued a response to the House speaker’s interview shortly after it ended.

“I watched a portion of low rated (very) Morning Psycho (Joe) this Morning in order to see what Nancy Pelosi had to say, & what moves she was planning to further hurt our Country,” he tweeted. “Actually, other than her usual complaining that I’m a terrible person, she wasn’t bad.”
