Fox News found solidarity with an unlikely politician on Monday.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) tweeted to thank the network for forcefully denouncing its host Jeanine Pirro’s Islamophobic attack on Omar for wearing a hijab, which Pirro suggested meant Omar had an “adherence to Sharia law” over the U.S. Constitution.
“No one’s commitment to our Constitution should be questioned because of their faith or country of birth,” Omar tweeted, after Fox released a statement saying “we strongly condemn” Pirro’s stance on the issue.
Pirro released her own statement, suggesting she only meant to start a debate.
Thank you, @FoxNews. No one’s commitment to our constitution should be questioned because of their faith or country of birth. https://t.co/haqm7NWRw0

Omar has ben criticized for anti-Semitism in recent weeks for suggesting that pro-Israel advocates share an “allegiance to a foreign country,” perpetuating a widely recognized anti-Semitic trope about Jewish people’s loyalty to Israel.
