Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) penned a joint CNN op-ed on Tuesday that criticized President Donald Trump’s moves to hinder the government’s attempt to fight domestic terrorism by white nationalists.

Omar and Schakowsky, who are Muslim and Jewish, respectively, urged both religious communities to come together to fight the rise of white nationalism.

“Addressing this hate should not be a partisan issue in the United States,” they wrote. “Yet the current administration has manifestly failed to address its rise.”

Besides President Donald Trump’s “very fine people” comment about the Charlottesville white supremacists, the congresswomen pointed to the Trump administration’s policies which they said “undermine the fight against domestic terrorism.”

“Last year, President Trump ended grants from the Department of Homeland Security designed to help fight white supremacist violence,” Omar and Schakowsky wrote. “And just weeks before the Poway attack, Trump’s Department of Homeland Security disbanded a group of intelligence analysts focused on domestic terrorism.”
