A retired NYPD officer who surrendered at the FBI’s Hudson Valley office Monday is expected to face charges over allegations that he used a pipe to attack Capitol Police during the Jan. 6 insurrection, according to a report.
Thomas Webster is expected to appear in federal court on Tuesday after being taken into custody Monday in Westchester, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office told WNBC, a New York NBC affiliate.

WNBC reported that law enforcement officials had identified the man in the above photos as Webster. The FBI’s public page of photos of alleged rioters now says “arrested” under the images of the man.
The former law enforcement officer had once been assigned to securing a perimeter at New York’s City Hall and also at Gracie Mansion, the NYC mayor’s official residence, law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation told the local NBC affiliate.
The FBI had sought public assistance in identifying Capitol rioters after releasing an array of images of those who unlawfully entered the Capitol on Jan. 6 as part of their investigation into the attack. Webster’s identification by law enforcement is just one of a series of ongoing charges and arrests made in connection with the riot that left a Capitol Police officer, and four others, dead.
