American Media Inc., which publishes the National Enquirer, recently peppered news stands with its magazine special on the “Space Force,” a pet project of President Trump.
But AMI denies that the White House or the private space industry were involved in the publication of the 97-page publication that cheered the “Space Force” — now a branch of the military that’s managed by the Air Force — and bashed Elon Musk, BuzzFeed News reported.
“This is one of nearly 200 newsstand Special Interest Publications that are part of a broader editorial business of capitalizing on newsworthy and topical events and moments this year,” an AMI spokesperson told BuzzFeed News. “All of our Special Interest Publications are decided on, and directed by, internal editorial staff and produced without advertising support or external influence.”
The Air Force told BuzzFeed it wasn’t involved either.
But the special publication devoted entirely to praising an initiative that Trump’s campaign is fundraising off of, rings eerily similar to its publication of “The New Kingdom” last year, an entire magazine devoted to praising Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a key Trump ally.
