Special counsel Robert Mueller highlighted the sophisticated Russian effort to meddle in the 2016 election and made a few subtle digs at President Trump’s characterization of his office’s investigation during a press conference Wednesday.
Mueller closed out his remarks by “reiterating the central allegation of our indictments.”
“There were multiple, systematic efforts to interfere in our election and that allegation deserves the attention of every American,” he said, a far-cry from Trump’s near-daily attacks on the probe that he’s coined nothing more than a “witch hunt.”
He also made sure to compliment the “highest integrity” of the attorneys, FBI agents, analysts and professional staff that worked with the special counsel’s office, a far-cry from Trump’s characterization of investigators: “17 Angry Democrats.”
