Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker said at a House Judiciary Committee hearing Friday that he had not talked to President Trump or “senior White House officials” about special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigations.
He confirmed that he himself has been briefed on special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, an assertion he previously made at a press conference last month. However, he refused to answer Chairman Jerry Nadler’s (D-NY) questions about the number of briefings on Mueller’s probe he received, or whether any of those briefings occurred before he made his decision not to recuse from oversight of the probe.
Whitaker, however, stressed that he had followed special counsel regulations “to a T” in his oversight of the Mueller probe.
“There’s been no event, no decision that has required me to take any action and I have not interfered in any way with the special counsel’s investigation,” Whitaker said,
