The Senate Intelligence Committee issued a subpoena to Michael Cohen on Thursday morning, compelling him to sit for an interview, Cohen’s lawyer Lanny Davis confirmed to TPM.
The subpoena comes just one day after Cohen postponed a public appearance before the House Oversight Committee scheduled for February 7. The Senate Intelligence Committee often conducts interviews behind closed doors, but the exact nature of the committee’s request was not immediately available.
Cohen postponed his public appearance in the House due to concerns about threats from President Trump and his allies. Cohen also noted his cooperation with federal investigators including the special counsel’s office in that statement.
Cohen pleaded guilty last year to several financial crimes and is set to report to prison in March.
