The first lady’s spokeswoman will soon go to bat for President Trump.
In a tweet on Tuesday afternoon, first lady Melania Trump announced that her press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, would not only fill Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ shoes as press secretary when she departs, but also take over as White House communications director.
“I can think of no better person to serve the administration and our country,” Trump said in a tweet.
Grisham has kept a relatively low profile as the first lady’s press secretary, but has occasionally taken on Sanders’ defiant tone with reporters inquiring about things like Trump’s clothing mishaps, including the infamous “I don’t really care, do you?” jacket.
Sanders is set to depart the White House at the end of the month.
I am pleased to announce @StephGrisham45 will be the next @PressSec & Comms Director! She has been with us since 2015 – @potus & I can think of no better person to serve the Administration & our country. Excited to have Stephanie working for both sides of the @WhiteHouse. #BeBest
