Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Tuesday afternoon took a step away from the Trump administration’s stalling of the transition process between President-elect Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, who continues to falsely insist he won the election.
“We’re going to have an orderly transfer from this administration to the next one,” McConnell told reporters, per CNN. “What we all say about it is, frankly, irrelevant.”
The GOP leader had previously voiced his support for Trump’s refusal to acknowledge Biden’s victory and for the President’s tantrums disguised as flimsy lawsuits against the election results in key swing states.
“The President has has every right to look into allegations and to request recounts under the law,” McConnell said on the Senate floor last week.
