Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) lashed out at former President Barack Obama on Monday in response to the ex-president’s comments about President Donald Trump’s Justice Department.

“I think President Obama should have kept his mouth shut,” McConnell said during a virtual Trump campaign event with Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law.

“You know, we know he doesn’t like much this administration is doing. That’s understandable,” he continued. “But I think it’s a little bit classless, frankly, to critique an administration that comes after you.”

Last week, Obama slammed the Justice Department’s withdrawal of the criminal case against Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn. The former president warned that the “rule of law is at risk” thanks to the DOJ’s decision, which came after Trump complained about the case against his ally ad nauseam.
