Matt Schlapp, the chairman of the American Conservative Union, said in an interview Tuesday that President Donald Trump “had some stinkers” on his 2016 presidential campaign.
During a discussion of former Trump fixer Michael Cohen’s scheduled congressional testimony, Schlapp, who is married to White House Director of Strategic Communications Mercedes Schlapp, said Trump “had some stinkers” on the campaign.
“By the way, I’ve hired some stinkers, I have, it’s true,” Schlapp said.
Cohen worked for Trump long before the 2016 campaign, but the hush money payments he made and coordinated, respectively, to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal on Trump’s behalf — both of which were technically illegal campaign contributions — were among the eight counts to which Cohen pleaded guilty last August.
