QAnon supporter Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who was one of several Republicans who refused to wear a mask while House lawmakers sheltered together during the pro-Trump siege at the Capitol last week, insisted on Tuesday that she had nothing to do with the three COVID-19 infections among the lawmakers that have emerged since the lockdown.
“It is absolutely ridiculous and insane to blame us,” Greene said in an interview with Fox News, claiming that she and her mask-less colleagues “did not have COVID or any symptoms.”
“Healthy people do not spread COVID,” said the Republican, who tends to brag about her CrossFit exercise on social media. “COVID positive people spread COVID.”
Greene’s defense flies in the face of epidemiologists’ science-based findings that those infected with COVID-19 can be asymptomatic, which is why masks are needed to prevent people from unwittingly spread the virus.
Three lawmakers have been diagnosed with the virus since the lockdown on January 6: Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Brad Schneider (D-IL), and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), who is 75 years old.
