Liz Mair remained tight-lipped about Rep. Devin Nunes’ (R-CA) lawsuit against her during her first interview since the suit was filed earlier this week, telling MSNBC that she’s “not personally equipped” to understand “what goes on in Devin Nunes’ mind.”
“I don’t think that I’m personally equipped to have any real insight into what goes on in Devin Nunes’ mind or his motivation, so I’m not sure that I can answer your question. To get an answer to that question you would have to have him on your show and ask him point blank,” she told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Tuesday evening.
“I’m also not going to get into discussing the lawsuit itself or his pleadings,” she continued. “Obviously I’m a defendant in this, and we will have a response that is forthcoming. But I don’t want to get into the actual lawsuit itself. Very happy to talk about the First Amendment implications though, of course.”
Mair is one of three Twitter users listed as defendants in Nunes’ lawsuit, legal action that some legal experts say is just a political statement to point out what he sees as Twitter’s perceived bias against conservatives. The other two accounts are parody handles: “@DevinNunesMom and @DevinCow.”
Mair said she sees the lawsuit as an attempt by “an actual government official” to use “litigation to stifle free speech.”
