Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took his criticisms of rival Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) birthplace a step further on Monday, tweeting that the Canadian-born candidate should “settle his problem” or get out of the race for the presidency.

Trump has put Cruz’s eligibility to run for President in the spotlight in recent weeks. Cruz was born in Canada to a Cuban father and a mother who is a U.S. citizen.

Trump had also jokingly questioned whether he should file a lawsuit to settle the issue of Cruz’s eligibility at a Saturday campaign event in Sioux City, Iowa, The Hill reported.

“The Democrats are going to sue if he ever got the nomination within two days,” Trump reportedly told the crowd. “There have already been two lawsuits filed, but they don’t have standing. I have standing to sue. Can you imagine if I did it? Should I do it just for fun?”
