Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) dodged questions of who his biggest rival to the Republican presidential nomination will be during an interview with CNN’s “New Day” aired Tuesday morning following the freshman senator’s victory at the Iowa caucus.
CNN’s Alisyn Camerota asked Cruz who his “biggest competitor” will be.
“Every candidate is going to have to decide what they do next in the campaign. I like and respect everyone in this race,” Cruz said.
When Camerota specifically asked about real estate mogul Donald Trump—who had dominated Republican polls—Cruz again sidestepped the question.
“I like and respect Donald Trump. I like and respect Marco (Rubio). They both had a good night. I congratulate them in their second and third place finish,” he added.
