Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) signed right-to-work legislation on Monday, finishing a quick turnaround after conservatives in the state legislature vowed to fast-track a right-to-work bill.
The legislation bans unions from requiring non-members to pay union dues. Walker signing the bill makes Wisconsin the 25th state to have such a law, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Walker seemed to have been somewhat strong-armed into signing the legislation. During the fight over public-sector unions, Walker had previously said that he would not sign legislation curbing private-sector unions. Walker signing the bill solidifies his move toward joining conservatives that had been pushing to curtail private-sector unions.
