After Republican frontrunner Donald Trump blamed his failure to denounce an endorsement from an ex-Ku Klux Klan leader on a “lousy earpiece,” former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney called the response “disqualifying.”
Romney tweeted Monday afternoon that Trump’s dodging a question about an endorsement from former KKK grand wizard David Duke was “disgusting.”
“His coddling of repugnant bigotry is not the character of America,” he said.

Trump has been widely criticized for his tepid response on CNN’s Sunday “State of the Union.” When Jake Tapper asked if he would “unequivocally condemn David Duke,” Trump claimed he didn’t know anything about Duke or the endorsement.
Romney has also recently attacked Trump for not releasing his tax returns.
