Jon Stewart gave Fox News a slow clap Monday after the network accused the New York Times of cropping former President George W. Bush out of a photo of Saturday’s march in Selma, Alabama.
After ribbing CNN for focusing a bit too much on its new drone cameras used to tape footage of the bridge, “The Daily Show” host turned to his favorite channel’s take on the commemoration.
“Could Fox take this commemoration of courageous civil rights marches, and somehow turn it into white, conservative victimization?” he asked.
He rolled clips of Fox hosts declaring that the New York Times had deliberately cropped Bush out of its front page photo.
“The paper cropped President George W. Bush and his wife Laura out of the front page picture from the Selma, Alabama anniversary march!” Fox host Harris Faulkner exclaimed.
Stewart began a slow clap. “You are amazing.”
The Comedy Central host may not have known it, but the New York Times responded to a wave of conservative criticism earlier on Monday, explaining that Bush was in fact not cropped out of the photo.
“CNN may have flying robot cameras, but Fox has drones,” Stewart said.
