A Wilson County, Texas reserve deputy allegedly fired a handgun at a tractor-trailer during a road rage incident on Monday morning in San Marcos, Texas, television station KVUE reported.
San Marcos police are investigating the incident, according to the station. A spokesperson for the police told KVUE that 41-year-old Daniel Zurita Jr. fired six rounds into a tractor-trailer with what the station described as a Glock 40 handgun.
According to KVUE, Zurita was driving a personal vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic stop of the 18-wheeler after it cut him off. Zurita reportedly shot at the grill five times and shot once at the windshield. The driver, Frank Collins III, ducked and hit Zurita’s vehicle as he attempted to escape the shots.
San Marcos police were notified of the incident by an observer and both Zurita and Collins were stopped a few miles from the reported shooting, according to KVUE.
Zurita was reportedly arrested but was released on $50,000 bail.
Collins was taken to the hospital for treatment after glass from the windshield lodged in his stomach, according to television station WFAA.
