After failing to steal electoral victory for Donald Trump, conspiracy-curious lawyer Lin Wood is setting his sights on the South Carolina Republican Party.
The Hill reported Monday morning that Wood, who recently decamped to South Carolina from his native Georgia, is seeking the chairmanship of the South Carolina Republican Party.
“A compelling reason for my decision to run for Chair of the South Carolina Party is that it is time for the leadership of the Party to recognize and appreciate the amazing Patriots stepping up to get involved in the party — this is NOT the time to take actions to exclude them,” Wood said in an email to The Hill.
It remains to be seen whether Wood has more luck in politics than in the courtroom. Back in January, a judge took Wood to task and barred him from a defamation case concerning Carter Page. The judge took aim at Wood’s “toxic stew of mendacity, prevarication and surprising incompetence.”
And in a curious move for a political operative, Wood in December called on Georgians to sit out the Senate runoff elections in the state, in which Democrats ultimately prevailed.
