Amid a slew of former Trump aides struggling to find jobs following the former president’s exit from the White House, former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany may have already found her footing in the post-Trump world — by potentially boomeranging back to her safe space of Fox News.
In her termination financial disclosure report obtained by CREW on Tuesday, McEnany indicated that she had reached an employment agreement with Fox News starting this month.
A Fox News spokesperson cautioned to TPM on Tuesday that McEnany is “not currently an employee or contributor” at the network.
However, a source familiar with the matter also told TPM on Tuesday that Fox News had “initial conversations” with McEnany post-election, but that the network “paused on them.”
The source said that Fox News does not “discuss the details behind contracts with any personnel” but that it is “open to hiring” McEnany in the future “given we do not condone cancel culture.”
With her frequent presence on Trump’s on-again-off-again favorite network, which included more than 20 appearances after Trump lost the election in November, McEnany appears to have been auditioning for Fox News all along during her time serving as Trump’s White House secretary.
McEnany’s regular appearances on Fox News during the Trump administration was in many ways a return to her old stomping grounds. Prior to working at the White House, McEnany began her media career as a production assistant for “Huckabee” for three years on Fox News. Following her stint on Fox News, McEnany was an on-air contributor on CNN while attending law school.
Although it’s unclear whether McEnany will eventually land a gig in the Fox News circuit, former White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow has already scored one. On Tuesday, Fox Business Network announced that Kudlow will be a contributor and host of a new weekday program. Fox Business Network said that Kudlow will “provide expert financial analysis on domestic and global affairs across all FOX News Media platforms.”
