In the wake of this weekend’s shooting in Odessa, Texas, the Justice Department is drafting legislation to expedite the death penalty for convicted mass shooters.
According to Bloomberg, Vice President Mike Pence has worked closely with Attorney General William Barr on the issue.
Seven people were killed in Odessa on Friday, just weeks after back-to-back massacres in El Paso and Dayton left 31 people dead.
It is unclear if the Justice Department believes that the expedited death penalty measure would serve as a deterrent to mass shooters, many of whom expect to be killed during their shooting sprees.
